# Prerequisites

Before we can get started, there are a few things to check off. Otherwise you may encounter issues while you install P5EX!

## What do I need?

Please make sure you have the following items **in their latest version:**

### **Apps**

* [Aemulus Package Manager](https://gamebanana.com/tools/6878)  (AemulusPackageManagervXXX.7z) 
* Text editor (e.g Notepad, VSCode, Notepad++...)
* [Winrar](https://www.rarlab.com/download.htm) or[ 7-Zip](https://www.7-zip.org/).

**NOTE:** If you're downloading Aemulus Package Manager from GitHub, make sure you download the release .*zip / .7z* files named above and **not** **the** **source code**.

### **Files**

* BGM CPK
* P5R Bustups CPK
* P5EX\_PRX\_PATCH.7z file
* P5EX

Those can be found in the GB page of P5EX, but you can also visit the [download page](https://loafgatr.gitbook.io/how-to-install-p5ex/other/downloads-page) if you want to quickly grab them. While those files are downloading, continue reading the remaining parts of the guide.

**Tip**: I recommend you save all of these files into one folder so it'll be a lot easier to find them and save you some headache during the installation process.

## 4K P5R Bustups

You can use 4K P5R bustups mod instead of the regular P5R Bustups, you can download the files in the GB page of P5EX. But you can also visit the [download page](https://loafgatr.gitbook.io/how-to-install-p5ex/other/downloads-page) if you want to quickly grab them there.

**Remove the "4K" from the file name and rename it to "P5RBustups\_03.cpk"**

**Note:** If you are using 4K bustups, **get the** [**4K vram build of RPCS3**](https://mega.nz/file/SLomQQ4B#xAHHUDg-Zvx4G0AfOhhJxoZ6WjsoHErRZv3rgCBv4UM)**. Otherwise your game will crash.**
